Building a smart helmet is fundamentally different from building a traditional one. I learned this lesson early on. You are not just creating a piece of plastic; you are creating a connected electronic device, and this requires a new level of OEM partnership. At SPIRIT, we have structured our teams to be experts in this specific challenge. Our partnership process is a fusion of industrial design and software development roadmapping. We work with our brand partners not just on the physical product, but on the entire user experience. This includes providing a robust Software Development Kit (SDK) so their app developers can seamlessly connect to our hardware. It involves joint testing of firmware and software to squash bugs before launch. Over my 17 years, my role has evolved from a hardware expert to a full-system integrator. We understand that for a smart helmet to be successful, the hardware and software must be developed in perfect harmony.
