When I look at a smart helmet, I don't just see a collection of features; I see a fundamental shift in how we approach safety. For most of my 17-year career, safety was reactive—it was about what happens during a crash. At SPIRIT, our vision for connected safety is proactive. It's about using technology to prevent the crash in the first place or to get help faster if one occurs. Brilliant 360-degree lighting and automatic brake lights make a rider predictable and visible to traffic. Turn signals communicate a rider's intent, reducing confusion at intersections. And if the worst happens, a crash detection sensor can be the difference between a fast response and being left stranded. My passion is no longer just about perfecting the energy-absorbing capabilities of foam; it's about building a connected safety ecosystem that a rider wears on their head. This vision drives our R&D at SPIRIT and is at the core of every smart helmet we build for our partners.
