I remember the exact moment, over a decade ago, when our R&D team first presented the concept of integrating lights into a helmet. It was an exciting but daunting idea. My 17 years in this business have been focused on impact dynamics and material science. Electronics were a new frontier. But I knew then, as I know now, that visibility was the next great challenge in rider safety. We didn't rush it. We spent two years just on research and development before creating our first prototype led helmet. We hired electronics engineers. We built a dedicated testing lab just for the lighting systems, separate from our impact lab. Our commitment was to do it right, or not at all. We tested for battery safety, for water ingress (IP ratings), and for the durability of the switches and charging ports. We refused to simply drill holes and glue in lights. At SPIRIT, our philosophy has always been one of seamless integration. We believe the electronics should feel as integral to the helmet as the EPS liner itself. That foundational commitment to quality is why brands today trust us to manufacture their most technologically advanced products.
