When we started developing our first led helmet, I quickly learned from our lighting engineers that effective visibility is about more than just raw brightness, or lumens. It’s a science. The goal is not to blind people, but to make the rider visible and predictable to motorists. At SPIRIT, we focus on several key factors. First is 360-degree coverage: ensuring light is visible from the front, the sides, and, most critically, the rear. We use wide-angle lenses and strategically placed light pipes to achieve this. Second is the color. We adhere to the universal standard of bright white for the front and a powerful red for the rear. Third is the light pattern. While a solid beam is good, a flashing pattern is scientifically proven to be more effective at capturing a driver's attention. We design our helmets with multiple modes so the rider can choose the best one for their conditions. It’s this deep, scientific approach to visibility that makes a SPIRIT-manufactured led helmet a truly effective piece of active safety equipment.
