A helmet's safety features are rendered useless if it doesn't stay firmly in place during a fall. That's why I've always placed an enormous emphasis on perfecting the fit and retention systems of our equestrian helmets. The harness on a SPIRIT-made equestrian helmet is more than just straps; it's an integrated safety system. We use a multi-point system, typically a 3- or 4-point harness, to create a secure and stable fit. We utilize high-tenacity yet soft nylon webbing that conforms smoothly to the rider's head. The crucial rear cradle of the harness is adjustable, often via a soft-touch dial, allowing the rider to fine-tune the fit for a perfect, 360-degree grip. We design our buckles to be secure and easy to operate, even with gloves on. Most importantly, we test the strength and effectiveness of our retention systems to ensure they exceed the roll-off and strength requirements of the ASTM F1163 standard. The result is a secure and comfortable equestrian helmet that riders can put on and forget about, allowing them to focus solely on their ride.
